The church was well filled for both morning and evening services on 20th October for the traditional Broomhedge harvest. Guest preacher in the morning was Rev David Turtle and in the evening, Rev Ken Todd. Special music for both services was provided by an augmented Broomhedge choir. During the evening service a gift was presented to Rev Austin Hassard, one time minister of Broomhedge to honour his 60 years of travelling. and following that service there was the customary time of fellowship over tea and coffee in the church Hall.
On the evening of 16th December, Broomhedge had its annual “Carols by candlelight” service. The church was packed and everyone enjoyed the singing, both congregational and that provided by the Meadow Bridge Primary School choir. The evening finished with the customary mince pies and coffee in the church hall
A bread and soup lunch for Christian Aid was held in Broomhedge church hall following the service on 27th May. As well as raising funds, the meal was a good occasion for chat and catching up with news.
Following the last very successful bus run to Newcastle, Broomhedge church went further afield and organised a run to Beleek and Donegal on 28th April. It was a great day out for everyone – all went to plan, there was good fellowship and the weather was bright and sunny
